Steve Brown
Steve has been teaching and performing circus skills all over the world for the last ten years. In 2001 and 2003 he taught circus skills in two prestigious American Summer Camps. In 2002 he ran the circus section at Marlborough College Summer School. In 2007 he completed the professional circus training course at Circomedia – Europe’s foremost centre for circus with physical theatre – and then in 2008 he completed their teacher training course. From 2008-9 he spent six months teaching underprivileged kids circus skills in India with the charity Performers Without Borders and then travelled through central Asia for two months teaching and performing shows at schools and orphanages. In 2010 he completed the Spark! Circus Project in Thailand teaching migrants and refugees on the Burmese border. When at home in the UK, Steve teaches at schools and youth groups around the country. His professional training and experience of teaching to such a wide range of ages and abilities in different countries and languages has honed his ability to explain a skill in the simplest and most accessible manner.
Emily Ball
Emily has been a juggler and performer for ten years and attended Circomedia School of Circus and Physical Theatre where she completed both the diploma and teaching courses from 2006-2008. Emily then spent 6 months in India (2008-9) teaching children circus skills as part of the charity Performers Without Borders – whilst teaching on the project she worked as joint curriculum coordinator with colleague Steve Brown.
Emily has more than 6 years experience teaching circus skills both informally and professionally to everyone from children to CEO’s. She first taught circus skills professionally at Winchester Hat Fair in 2004, and since then has taught a range of workshops from one day masterclasses to month long intensive circus courses, as well as workshops for Hen Parties, children’s parties and team building days across the UK. With such a variety of experience at her disposal, Emily can teach workshops for all ages and abilities and adapt them on the spot so everyone can learn something new. Emily also has experience of working with special needs and disruptive students and has always had positive feedback from these workshops.
